FREE – May Day Street Fair is Back!

May Day Fair

Time: 12 noon – 5pm
Location: Low Green, Copmanthorpe
Entry: FREE

IT’S BACK! Copmanthorpe May Day Street Fair will return to Low Green on Monday 4th May 2026, from 12 noon to 5pm, bringing a much-loved village tradition back to life after years away.

First launched in 1990, the free event is being revived by Cop’ Carnival Committee, who are aiming to recreate the nostalgia, community spirit and May Day atmosphere that made the fair a favourite for more than 25 years.

The event will feature around 15 stalls, local produce, community groups, food, music and family entertainment. Attractions include Morris dancers, a maypole with thanks to Lucy Taylor and family, the return of the Model Steam Train Engineers, children’s attractions including zorbs, a penalty shootout, mega slide and bouncy castle, plus refreshments from local supporters including St Giles Church, The Royal Oak, Anteiku Café, Cop’Dogs and C and M Ices.

Alan Murray Chair of Cop’ Carnival Committee says:
“As a group of community-spirited individuals, we feel incredibly fortunate to live in such a beautiful village, and we felt strongly that the May Day Fair deserved to return. For so many people, it holds special memories, and we wanted to bring that tradition back to Low Green where it belongs. This is about nostalgia, community, and giving people a chance to come together again for a fantastic free village event. We’re proud to be bringing back the original May Day Street Fair and giving it a new lease of life for 2026.”
